“I didn’t want to have to kill anybody, but that was my job and somebody’s got to do it” - Tony Long

SYNOPSIS

Fifty years on from the creation of the Metropolitan Police Service’s specialist firearms command unit, SCO19, ‘Secrets of a Police Marksman’ examines what it is really like to be deployed on hundreds of dangerous operations to bring down terrorists, killers and hostage takers as a police marksman.

Marksman Tony Long, a legend amongst his colleagues, has been behind some of the UK’s most controversial police shootings in the unit’s history but it was the death of a suspected armed robber and drug dealer, Azelle Rodney, that landed him in court charged with murder and facing life imprisonment for simply doing his job.
